Parent Notification Letters

Each year, school districts are required to send a letter to parents of students enrolled in English Learner programs, known as TBE/TPI. This is to keep you informed about your child's education in line with state and federal guidelines.

The letters we provide meet all necessary requirements, but districts can also create their own letters that include all the information outlined in Illinois law.

Parents will receive these notification letters for their EL students within 30 days after the school year begins. It's important to let you know every year your child is part of a language instruction program. If a student is identified as an EL after the school year has started, the district will send a letter to parents within 14 days of your child joining the program.
